Aerosol Therapy
NEBULIZER MASK: Adult & Pediatric Sizes

People with lung conditions often rely on certain medications to help treat these diseases or alleviate symptoms. Oftentimes, a doctor will prescribe a nebulizer for the patient to use, making the medications easier to inhale. In order to receive the medication in this form, a patient normally uses a nebulizer mask.

How to Use Phoenix Nebulizer Mask

Place the mask on your face with the elastic band going around the back of your head.

Pull the ends of the elastic bands on either side of the mask make the mask looser or tighter. The mask should fit snugly in place without being painful.Pinch the metal band that goes across the nose piece of the mask until it fits.

Face forward and keep your chin level with the floor during the nebulizer treatment. Turning your head or dropping your head creates gaps in the fit of the mask, which allows the medication to escape before you can inhale it.

Many medications are available as inhaled treatments. Inhaled methods deliver medication directly to the airway, which is helpful for lung diseases. The patient and healthcare provider can choose from a variety of delivery systems for inhaling medication.

Phoenix nebulizer delivery system consists of a nebulizer (small plastic bowl with a screw-top lid) and a source for compressed air. The air flow to the nebulizer changes the medication solution to a mist. When inhaled correctly, the medication has a better chance to reach the small airways. This increases the medication's effectiveness.

Some tips for using Phoenix nebulizer mask:

  • If you are going to use it, just pace the mask in front of your face. It should cover your nose and mouth. It usually has an elastic band. Wear it around your head so that it will stay in place. For babies or young children, it is better to hold the mask instead of securing it with the elastic band.
  • Make sure that the elastic band fits snugly around your head. It should not be too tight or too loose. Adjust the mask until you are comfortable enough.
  • You should face forward at all times while doing the treatment. Do not move your head a lot because the mask might get loose. The mist will escape from the mask and you will not be able to inhale it.
